what color would you write as inviting?

maybe a feeling, or a memory. a kind smile, or even why this color welcomes when an other won’t.

take a few minutes to notice this color around you; listen for tthat first word that fits just enough to bring others in.

    orange, a welcome in six parts

    ”well damn.

    nothing rhymes with orange.

    and yet, no one says hi quite like him

    in a wave of passersby,

    coming or going it won’t matter to him

    in the shine of a smile welcoming,

    he wears it better than the sun

    a fruity twang,

    not hello, but howdy

    in the flicker of flames,

    we all draw nearer while he whispers ‘snapcracklepop’

    the petals of sunflowers

    always arguing with yellow, playfully of course

    why you could say,

    but why not ask him yourself?

    well damn, there we have it.

    who needs to rhyme with orange

    when you know him?”
